The Yahara Watershed is located in south-central Wisconsin, and is in part of four different counties. The watershed is home to some of the nation’s most productive farmland, as well as the state capital, and the flagship university of the University of Wisconsin System. The Yahara River connects five major lakes: Mendota, Monona, Wingra, Waubesa, and Kegonsa. These lakes and the other waterways in the watershed are extremely important to the community, both agriculturally and recreationally. Due to the importance of these waterways, it is critical that both rural and urban conservation practices are put into effect.
